Q U I R I N U S (AMOS)

"This is the secret of propaganda: To totally saturate the person, whom the propaganda wants to lay hold of, with the ideas of the propaganda, without him even noticing that he is being saturated." (Watzlawick)

Amos is a liar. The information he tells your character may not be trustworthy, regardless of who your character is to him; there is always something more to hide, and images to preserve. If you (the writer reading this - hello gorgeous) are privy to knowledge that your character may not or otherwise should not have, please do not let this impact your writing of their interactions. If you are unclear what is and is not appropriate for your character to know, do not hesitate to get in touch/DM me.The information on this website is limited by design, I should hope that, for the most part, you get to know Amos through interacting with him directly. However, if you have any questions, DMs are open.OTHERWISE...Generally speaking, MDNI.
Given the nature of VII, the themes within, and Amos' role as PR Head/Blatant Propagandist for SHINRA, there may be themes that approach upon "dead dove" territory, when taking VII at a more aggressive reading. This includes: body horror, medical horror, genocide (of wutai), genocide apologia (wutai), war crimes/atrocities related to war in general (infrastructure destruction, bombing civilians, plate drop, Nibelheim coverup, etc).
That said, I doubt anything wild will happen, and this account is staying decently grounded to VII's timeline. That said, if a boundary has ever been crossed when writing with me, don't hesitate to get in touch. We're adults, we can discuss things like adults. I'm here to have fun, I'd hope you're here to do the same, the last thing I want is to make anyone uncomfortable.Replies may take time. I generally handle my replies chronologically based on time of receipt, but sometimes this isn't the case. I generally get to replies within 3 days or less, but sometimes life gets in the way and things can take a week or more.I work full time, and experience 24/7 chronic pain, and flares come and go. There are times I'm unable to write. There are times I forget to text back (especially ooc). Please do not assume malice if I appear to be "ignoring" you, please assume exhaustion and brainfog. I won't be insulted or upset if you gently bump me or otherwise check in. Again: I'm here to have fun, I assume you are too.Happy writing. x

HOMETOWN: SMALL AGGRICULTURAL SETTLEMENT IN NORTHWEST NIBEL AREASIMPLE BIOGRAPHY: Amos moved from his hometown to Midgar for work in 1991. However, not having had much in the way of money and stability, he moved to Junon in 1992 to save on living expenses. He was able to move back to Midgar in 1996 once he secured some lucrative contracts, and lives semi-comfortable in Sector 3's upper plate. He is not a particularly social animal, and chronic pain doesn't help with that. When he's not working, he's sleeping. He doesn't like to eat out. Or eat at all. He can't drink (but sometimes he does). Amos has a long list of medications and routines he uses to best manage his health issues (hEDS), along with assistive braces, to some success.Amos tends to eat and drink below-plate to save money.Amos occasionally frequent services within sector six. He will not relinquish any detail about his activities therein.Pacifism is the name of the game. He is much too tired for conflict, and would much rather resolve things peacefully and calmly if conflict ever arises. He cannot handle tense scenarios particularly well, and will try to avoid them whenever possible. He seems to evade political discussion wherever possible, along with discussions of work in too much detail.Fundamentally, he's just trying to get by, and mind himself quietly. Sand keeps slipping through the hourglass.

ASSIGNMENT/TRAINING PERFORMANCE NOTES;"Responding to training very well. Keen with polearms. Very agile, has little issue navigating non-human threats." - SUPERVISING FIRST; MAY 1991"Doing very well in group combat simulations with peers, tends to act independently." - SUPERVISING FIRST; MAY 1991"He's expressed interest in focusing on POLEARM use. It seems very intuitive to him. Considering offering specialization. Seems to be less interested in one and two handed swords." - SUPERVISING FIRST; JUNE 1991"Intuited disarming combatants and "hooking" them off of mounts with HALBERD without explicit instruction. Requested additional training and specialization." - SUPERVISING FIRST; JUNE 1991"Was very excited and eager to focus on HALBERD training. Very aggressive." - SUPERVISING FIRST; JULY 1991"Performs well against mounted combatants and large non-human enemies in solo simulation. May be wise to keep an eye on his aggression. Unusually exhausted following training." - SUPERVISING FIRST; JULY 1991"He did well, but not exceptional. Followed orders without question, did not sustain any injuries from combatants. He did not sleep during travel or during the assignment. Concerned." - SUPERVISING FIRST; AUGUST 1991"Handled terrain in MM very well, no issues navigating the rock faces, nor with the limited visibility. Worked well with small group. Sustained no injuries from combat with non-human enemies. Refused to eat MRE. I believe he may have eaten a CRAWLER unauthorized, but had no distress." - SUPERVISING SECOND; SEPTEMBER 1991"A. HELVIUS dropped to the ground not long after arriving in WUTAI. Refused to hold weapon upright, refused to walk. Complained of pain, but could not direct to any injury, or articulate what kind of pain it was. Zero injuries upon investigation. PPF escort was recalled to bring him back to MIDGAR. HELVIUS claimed to be unable to get back inside the escort on his own." - SUPERVISING FIRST; OCTOBER 1991"Outperformed a SECOND senior to him by several years in one-on-one sparring with a HALBERD. It was hardly any contest." SUPERVISING FIRST; OCTOBER 1991"HELVIUS engaged non-human enemies in combat independently and sustained no injuries. Said he had never seen so much snow before. Said his body "stopped hurting" in the snow. HELVIUS had no injuries." - SUPERVISING FIRST; NOVEMBER 1991"HELVIUS eagerly requested to return to the NC and once again performed very well. HELVIUS removed all climate protective equipment and laid in the snow. Claimed to be able to "think clearly" and "did not feel bad". HELVIUS sustained no injuries nor status effects during combat or travel." - SUPERVISING FIRST; NOVEMBER 1991"HELVIUS began the multi-day assignment eagerly and performed well in combat against several mounted combatants, and sustained zero injuries. Once the night's camp was made, however, A. HELVIUS began refusing commands from both SECOND and FIRST class team members. HELVIUS refused to eat the MRE (chocobo rice and beans), claiming he would "choke" on it. HELVIUS refused to help prepare camp. When threatened with an insubordination warning, HELVIUS claimed that "everything" hurt. Upon inspection, he had zero injuries. When threatened with a verbal warning again, HELVIUS complied with commands, and collapsed onto the ground shortly after. HELVIUS assumed a recovery position and stopped speaking. Again, HELVIUS showed no signs of injury." SUPERVISING FIRST; DECEMBER 1991"A. HELVIUS began complaining of immense right shoulder pain shortly after combat. He was uninjured and had full range of motion upon evaluation. HELVIUS repeatedly dropped his HALBERD while walking. HELVIUS repeatedly complained that he couldn't "think right" and that he felt "weak". When threatened with a written warning for insubordination, HELVIUS began crying. HELVIUS later stopped responding to verbal commands." - SUPERVISING FIRST; DECEMBER 1991"Performed exceptionally well in simulation with other THIRDs. Kept holding his right shoulder, seemed more defensive and less aggressive than usual. Fell once. Was not himself." - SUPERVISING SECOND; DECEMBER 1991"Once again HELVIUS demonstrated incredible proficiency with handling non-human enemies, and had once more requested to go on NC assignments. HELVIUS repeatedly rubbed his skin with ice, and was in very high spirits." - SUPERVISING FIRST; DECEMBER 1991"Begged not to go on assignment, claiming "I'm just going to fail again" and "you're just going to send me back again". Stopped responding to orders and laid on the ground unresponsive briefly after arriving in WUTAI." - SUPERVISING FIRST; JANUARY 1992"During combat, HELVIUS' right shoulder didn't look okay. It seemed "low", and he repeatedly grabbed it. When I asked whether he was alright, he claimed to be fine, and asked whether he was going to be reprimanded. The shoulder returned to normal not long later. Despite seeming uninjured he used several health restoration items." - SUPERVISING SECOND; JANUARY 1992"HELVIUS suddenly collapsed after standing from a squatting position during combat (MADOUGE) with an enemy he has previously had no issues with. He claimed to be unable to see, but was not impacted by DARKNESS. HELVIUS sustained considerable injuries, and was unable to walk for the remainder of the assignment despite the use of restoration items. Complained of feeling weak, hot, and exhausted." - SUPERVISING FIRST ; FEBRUARY 1992"Once again HELVIUS excelled in group combat simulation with peers, outperforming expectations. Unclear why this isn't translating to assignments." SUPERVISING FIRST; FEBRUARY 1992"HELVIUS repeatedly became confused as to where he was, and what the object of the assignment was. He became agitated by correction from superiors and peers, and eventually began to weep. HELVIUS refused restoration items, water, food, and rest. He begged to go home." SUPERVISING FIRST ; FEBRUARY 1992"HELVIUS once again repeatedly requested not to go on the assignment to WUTAI. When asked for a reason, he claimed "it makes me ill, it makes everything hurt". When reassured that he is uninjured, and will be fine, he stopped complaining. HELVIUS struggled during combat, and after two days asked to be retrieved, citing that he felt it was "going to happen again". I assigned a SECOND to stay on him at all times. Reportedly, HELVIUS did not sleep at all during the night, and periodically cried. According to the SECOND, HELVIUS claimed to be "too dizzy" to eat, and "kept forgetting where he was". HELVIUS' right shoulder seemed dislocated in the morning, which he said "happened often", and that "it would go away" and asked that he not be reprimanded. When asked if he was in any pain, he responded affirmatively. I ordered that SECOND to stay with him until everyone else finished the assignment and was ready to leave. Requesting a referral to medical for investigation of the shoulder." - SUPERVISING FIRST; MARCH 1992"HELVIUS refused to participate in group simulation exercise." - SUPERVISING SECOND; MARCH 1992"I assumed HELVIUS would want to accompany on the NC assignment. He said not a single word during the travel, nor the first several hours and encounters of the assignment. During combat, HELVIUS appeared to dislocate his shoulder, dropped his weapon, and began clutching his chest. I terminated the assignment shortly after." - SUPERVISING FIRST; MARCH 1992DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS;VERBAL WARNING - INSUBORDINATION (SEPTEMBER 1991)VERBAL WARNING - INSUBORDINATION/ASSIGNMENT FAILURE (OCTOBER 1991)MEETING WITH DIRECTOR - INSUBORDINATION/ASSIGNMENT FAILURE (DECEMBER 1991)FIRST WRITTEN WARNING - ASSIGNMENT FAILURE (DECEMBER 1991) (BEGIN PROBATION PERIOD)MEETING WITH DIRECTOR - INSUBORDINATION/ASSIGNMENT FAILURE (JANUARY 1992)SECOND WRITTEN WARNING - INSUBORDINATION/ASSIGNMENT FAILURE (JANUARY 1992) (PAY DECREASE, LOSS OF PRIVILEGES)MEETING WITH DIRECTOR - INSUBORDINATION/ASSIGNMENT FAILURE (FEBRUARY 1992)MEETING WITH DIRECTOR - INSUBORDINATION/ASSIGNMENT FAILURE (FEBRUARY 1992)FINAL WRITTEN WARNING - INSUBORDINATION/ASSIGNMENT FAILURE (FEBRUARY 1992) (DISCHARGE CONSIDERATION)MEETING WITH DIRECTOR - HEALTH CONCERN, ASSIGNMENT FAILURE (MARCH 1992)MEETING WITH DIRECTOR - HEALTH CONCERN, ASSIGNMENT FAILURE (MARCH 1992) (SUSPENDED FROM ASSIGNMENTS AND TRAINING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE)ADMINISTRATIVE REMARKS;Referred to medical for investigation of supposed injury (OCTOBER 1991).
